Coach Joe’s All-American Idol
Official Contest Rules and Regulations
- Contest Dates
- Qualifying will be held Wednesday, April 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 4, 2008
- Round 1 will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Round 2 will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008
- Round 3 (The Semi-finals) will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2008
- Round 4 (The Finals) will be held Friday, July 4, 2008
- Contest Participants
- Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of qualifying
- Contestants wishing to participate may not be under contract with any recording label
- Employees and relatives of Coach Joe’s may not enter contest
- Must present valid Driver’s License or State Issued Identification
- Judging
- Contestants will be judged based on performance, musicianship, and accuracy
- Contestants will be judged by Manager on Duty (MOD), Karaoke DJ, and Guest Judge
- Final decision of winning contestant will be determined by majority vote of the judges
- Winner for each round (qualifying thru the finals) does not need unanimous vote.
- Description of Bracket Competition
- Qualification
- One male and one female will be chosen each Wednesday of the qualification period to be placed in the first round bracket.
- There are eight (8) spots available for qualifying male contestants and eight (8) spots available for qualifying female contestants.
- Song selection for rounds 1 – 4 of the bracket competition will be made at the time of qualification. Contestant may not sing the same song twice during the competition and may not alter the order of or change selected songs
- Round 1
- Consists of 8 sets (4 male sets and 4 female sets)
- 1 set consists of 2 contestants competing in their respectful brackets (male bracket and female bracket)
- Contestants will be competing against their own gender in a random draw format.
- example : if you are the first male to qualify, you will not necessarily compete against the second qualifying male contestant. Once all qualifying contestants are determined, names will be drawn at random to determine the order in which you will compete and who you will compete against. The random draw format will only apply to Round 1.
- One song per contestant
- song choice for round 1 made at time of qualification must be sung.
- Contestant is solely competing against his/her opponent in above mentioned set.
- One contestant from each set will advance to Round 2.
- Round 2
- Consists of 4 sets (2 male sets and 2 female sets)
- Contestants will be competing against their own gender
- Opponents for each set will be determined by bracket position as a result of Round 1 advancement
- One song per contestant
- song choice for round 2 made at time of qualification must be sung.
- Contestant is solely competing against his/her opponent in above mentioned set.
- One contestant from each set will advance to the Semi-finals (Round 3)
- Round 3 (Semi-finals)
- Consists of 2 sets (1 male set and 1 female set)
- Contestants will be competing against their own gender
- Opponents for each set will be determined by bracket position as a result of Round 2 advancement
- One song per contestant
- song choice for round 3 made at time of qualification must be sung.
- Contestant is solely competing against his/her opponent in above mentioned set.
- One contestant from each set will advance to the Finals (Round 4)
- Round 4 (Finals)
- Consists of 1 set (male vs female)
- Contestants will be competing against opposing Semi-final winner
- Opponents will be determined by Semi-final results
- Order of performance to be determined by coin flip. Winner of coin flip has choice of going first or second
- One song per contestant
- song choice for Finals made at time of qualification must be sung
- performance will be accompanied by live band featuring Gary Kyle and Manny Trevin
- Contestant is solely competing against opposing Semi-finalist winner
- One contestant will be chosen as winner and will claim the title of Coach Joe’s All-American Idol.
- Prizes
- Qualification - $200.00 awarded to each contestant who advances to Round 1 (8 males and 8 females)
- Round 1 – no prize money awarded
- Round 2 – no prize money awarded
- Round 3 (Semi-finals) - $400.00 awarded to the male bracket Semi-finalist winner and to the female bracket Semi-finalist winner
- Round 4 (Finals) - $1000.00 awarded to the winner of Coach Joe’s All-American Idol
- All prizes will be awarded the night of eligibility
- Restrictions and Eligibility for Prizes
- Contestants participating in Coach Joe’s All-American Idol may compete each week to win a place in Round 1 during the qualifying period.
- There are 8 chances to qualify (see section 1. Contest Dates)
- Qualifying contestants will receive the regularly scheduled $200.00 weekly prize the night of qualification.
- Weekly prizes are no longer available to qualifying contestants until one or more of the following occurs :
- contestant loses in any round after qualification
- contestant forfeits in any round after qualification
- competition has ended
- Forfeiture of performance in any round by contestant automatically advances scheduled opponent to the next round of the bracket
- Forfeiture occurs if or when contestant :
- withdraws from competition verbally or in writing in the presence of official contest judge
- fails to appear for performance on the night of competition during any round
- falsifies information pertaining to eligibility of contest participation
- Contest Rules and Regulations Amendments
- Rules and regulations may change due to unforeseeable circumstances at which time all contestants will be notified via phone or email.
